The workshop aims to introduce the frontier theme of “Text, Subjectivity and Diversity” from August 31 to September 21, 2017 in Beijing, China. It is held by College of Transcultural Studies of Beijing Normal University (BNU) and Dunhe Scholarly Foundation, cosponsored by Institute for History of Natural Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Research Institute for Chinese Folk Culture, Center for Folklore, Ancient Writing and Chinese Characters, Key Social Science Research Base under the Education Ministry of China, School of Chinese Language and Literature, BNU. It is approved and administrated by the Graduate School, BNU. 2017 International Workshop of Transcultural Studies is well received, because the number of registered students and the involvement of colleges and universities is three times than that of previous ones. Among 105 registered students, 19 are professors and associate professors. Students come from 29 majors in 49 higher education institutions in 7 countries. The website visits reach 2200 times, and the number of attendees to the workshop hits 2303, which shows the rapid increase of the visibility and the centripetal force of the transcultural studies.
There are 17 professors delivering 28 lectures in the 2017 International Workshop of Transcultural Studies lasting 84 hours in total. There are four models of the lectures: the principles of the transcultural studies, the transcultural classic studies (including traditional Chinese philology), the transcultural folkloristics and the transcultural multilingual literature
