2018 International Workshop of Transcultural Studies
Approved and administrated by the Graduate School, Beijing Normal University (BNU), “the 4th international workshop of transcultural studies for graduate students” is a workshop focusing on “Transcultural Interpretations: Society, Culture, Language, Folklore” in the summer of 2018 at Beijing Normal University, the People’s Republic of China (PRC). This academic training program has planned since 2015 according to the cooperative program between the Beijing Normal University in PRC and Université d’ Artois in France.
The 4th international workshop of transcultural studies for graduate students are organized by College of Transcultural Studies, Center for Folklore, Ancient Writing and Chinese Characters, Key Social Science Research Base under the Education Ministry of PRC,and School of Chinese Language and Literature, BNU. It is open for graduate students at universities and research institutes who major in traditional Chinese culture such as Folkloristics, Study of Folk Literature and Arts, Traditional Chinese Exegetics, as well as related disciplines like Comparative Literature, Oriental Literature, Theory of Literary Critique, Sociology and History of Science and Technology, etc. It aims to offer edging courses such as the theory of transcultural studies, promote the international level of training graduate students, and serve the goal of establishing world famous universities.
This workshop will invite first-class professors from different countries in the world as well as Chinese leading professors who have broad international visions in their respective research and fair understanding toward transcultural studies. In terms of the teaching methodology, the workshop combines the “dialogues” between the foreign and Chinese scholars with utilizing new educational facilities in transcultural studies,which intends to help the graduate students who have already received basic professional training to expand their horizons, and promote the consciousnesses of cultural diversity and educational coexistence between China and the world.
Participants are expected to listen to all the lectures and actively take part in the seminar, and then submit their papers to the instructor team who will grade the papers. The certificates of completion based on the performance of the participants will be issued by the Graduate School, BNU.
The Graduate School and College of Transcultural Studies will cover the tuition and textbooks without any extra charges, while the participants pay for their transportation, accommodation and food.
